Manzanillo, Costa Rica
Jale por un zarpe a Khai's, mae
Khai's was born from a hammock dream, a handshake, and a little boy named Khai who used to nap in the sand here while his old man built the bar. Our driftwood shack sits right on the sand in Manzanillo — the last stretch of untouched coastline on Costa Rica's southern Caribbean.
We built this place with reclaimed wood, a lot of rum, and one simple rule: leave your worries at the tree line. Our kitchen runs on whatever the fishermen bring in that morning, our bar runs on fresh coconuts and good vibes, and our playlist runs on roots reggae and the sound of waves.
Whether you just stumbled off the jungle trail, paddled in from a surf session, or took the bus from Puerto Viejo — pull up a stool, dig your toes in the sand, and stay a while. Or forever. We don't judge.
There's always a reason to come by. Here's what's coming up at the shack.

"We stopped in for one drink on our way back from the wildlife refuge. That was three days ago. I've missed my flight and I don't care."
"Best ceviche on the entire Caribbean coast. And I've been living here for six years. The Khai cocktail is life-changing."
"The reggae night on Wednesday is the best night out in all of Limón province. And the fish tacos at 1am? Criminal how good they are."
We're at the end of the road — literally. Manzanillo is the last town on Costa Rica's southern Caribbean coast. You can't miss us: look for the driftwood sign, the reggae, and the smell of grilled fish.
